An optometric consultant to motion picture studios since 1951, Dr. Greenspoon, a past Academy Award nominee, outlined his work in providing special effect lenses for films ranging from early black-and-while productions to the recent “Twilight” saga.

The Blast from the Past is held annually in conjunction with the meeting of the American Academy of Optometry. Among the 60 attendees at the presentation were 44 American Optometric Student Association members.

“Lights, Camera, Contacts: A History of Contact Lenses in the Movie Industry” will be offered again at Optometry’s Meeting® in San Diego in June 2013.
